About Happiness

“Happiness is like a butterfly; the more you chase it, the more it will elude you, but if you turn your attention to other things, it will come and sit softly on your shoulder…” Henry David Thoreau

The saintly brahmana said: O King, the embodied living entity automatically experiences unhappiness in heaven or hell. Similarly, happiness will also be experienced, even without one's seeking it. Therefore a person of intelligent discrimination does not make any endeavor to obtain such material happiness. (Srimad Bhagavatham 11.8.1)

"There are many in this world, and especially in India, who think wealth & power can make a person happy. For them I say, I am coming right from that point, down the road, there is nothing!" His Grace Ambarish Prabhu great grandson of Henry Ford.

"Prahlad Maharaj made things very simple, if you want to be happy in this world, then simply stop trying to be happy in this world; then you would be happy, but as long as you are trying to be happy in this world, you have to suffer because it a place of death" - Radhanath Swami on Being Happy in This World.

"For a person who has suitable shoes on his feet, there is no danger even when he walks on pebbles and thorns. Similarly, for one who is always self-satisfied there is no distress. Indeed, He experiences happiness everywhere." A.C. Bhaktivedanta Swami Prabhupada.
